Registration Gets Real

28 Jan

Hello future ASB-goers!
This Sunday at 8:00 AM, all of you should register for an Alternative Spring Breaks Trip (a.k.a. our trip). Planning is going really well, and we are so excited to volunteer with POTS and for our excursion into The Big Apple!
This is how registration works:
You will be able to access the registration website by going to http://www.bu.edu/csc. Once on the website,  select the trip of your choice (a.k.a. The Bronx) and have a credit card ready because you must pay a deposit of $175 to hold your spot. If the trip that you want (The Bronx) is full, make sure to log back in about an hour later to see if anyone dropped their trip, therefore resulting in OPEN spots! If that doesn’t work, then the waiting list will activate at noon, so make sure to log back on at noon to put yourself on the list!

Also, don’t miss out on the ASB Fundraising Concert tomorrow night at 8:30 PM in BU Central! Slow Children at Play, Gentleman Hall, Soulstice, and The BosTones will all be performing, and we will be selling pizza for a dollar per slice! We’ll have a raffle with prizes and you can also buy a chance ticket to have the opportunity to get your first choice ASB trip without the pressure of having to register bright and early on Sunday!

Check our our upcoming video to find out more about our specific trip progresssss!

Welcome to ASB!

10 Nov

Hello World!

We are Alexa Beychok and Vanja Pantic, the coordinators for the 2011 Alternative Spring Break trip to Bronx, NY! We’re both from Atlanta and are sophomores in the College of Arts and Sciences. Here is a little bit of info about us:

Vanja is a Bosnian-born, tea loving, TOM wearer (though, if she could, she’d be more than happy to go barefoot!). If you buy her a hazelnut mocha she will love you forever. She loves photography, live concerts (especially of small, up-and-coming bands) and music ranging from weird folky-zen tunes to Top 40 hits. Along with her passion for humanitarian relief in developing countries, Vanja also wants everything to be fair trade. This is expected considering she is double majoring in International Relations and Political Science. Vanja also loves New York City, and she is super excited to go back – but this time in the Bronx!

Alexa is a modern-art-loving, coffee addict who hates olives and sun-dried tomatoes (though, she’s devoted to promoting sustainable agriculture). She likes the way the air feels in winter, especially when she gets the chance to escape reality and spend time on Newbury Street, her favorite part of Boston. Alexa’s flair for art extends into her schoolwork, and she’s found refuge within her Art History major and Anthropology minor, which enable her to visit museums on the regular. Get used to Southern-speak from this co, she says y’all too many times to count (and calls her friends ma’am and sir).

As much as you want to keep reading about us, we bet you want to know a little bit about our trip! This march, we will be working with an organization called Part Of The Solution (POTS), which strives to feed a nourishing meal to all who are in need.

We are currently in the beginning stages of planning the trip, but we look forward to organizing our volunteer work as well as some super awesome New York City outings. Stay tuned for more juicy details!

If you have any questions about our trip, please send us an e-mail at bronxasb2o11@gmail.com, or come talk to us in the CSC on Mondays from 4-5 pm!

ASBlove,

Alexa & Vanja
